EAU DE PARFUM, 50 ML

Silky waters, crystal goblets and champagne bottles, iris sprigs, wild vines of jasmine, intertwined limbs and steamy handprints, a timeless ruse, a poet and a muse, an ocean of violets in bloom, “love is a reciprocal torture,” breathed through a cloud of powder.

1979, PARIS

TOP — Violet Leaf, Cassis
HEART — Orris, Jasmine
BASE — Cashmere, Sandalwood

She found herself in an abandoned Parisian bathhouse with strangers, and him. Like a classical Renoir, the landscape dotted with iris sprigs and wild vines of jasmine, silky waters, twisted limbs, dripping lips, and crystal champagne goblets. Some were French, some were expats. Some were clothed, some were not. He was a poet, and she played the muse. She leaned against clean white tile, and let the steam gently curl around her. Like a cloud of powder framing her timeless red lips. Empty bottles of champagne floated like buoys between them, rocking to the sound of Prince’s guitar and an ocean of violets in bloom. He quoted Proust and she let him. He said, “love is a reciprocal torture.” She flicked the water with long, painted fingers and said, “then let the games begin.”

The Club: Les Bains Douches

PARIS
1978 - 2010

In 1978, Les Bains Douches breathed new life into a Parisian 19th-century bathhouse, becoming a crucible for the avant-garde, where Andy Warhol once sketched his night visions. Les Bains Douches made stars of its designer Philippe Starck, and resident DJ David Guetta, who were unknown at the time. Joy Division recorded a live album in the basement, where Prince performed impromptu and Depeche Mode played years before selling out stadiums. Though its life as a nightclub ended in 2010, the new Les Bains (the “Douches” was dropped) opened as a hotel in 2015 with a smaller club in the basement.
